The temporary modification on the Influenza vaccination ends
16/3/2023

On September 8, 2022, the FEI Board approved a temporary exception to the general influenza vaccination regulations, extending the vaccine booster intervals from 6 to 12 months.

This decision was made as a result of the lack of stock of one of the main suppliers of these vaccines. The new forecast went into effect in September 2022 until April 1, 2023.
Last Friday the FEI confirmed that from April 1 it will return to the previous regulation: the administration of boosters in the six months (+21 days) preceding a competition.

Since the RFHE also adopted in its internal regulations the above extension by agreement of the Board of Directors, on a proposal from the Veterinary Committee of the RFHE, it will also be from 1 April 2023 that Article 2 of Chapter III of the Veterinary Regulations of the RFHE will again be active under its original wording:

“2.3. Recall doses should be administered at intervals not greater than 12 months, but if the horse takes part in an RFHE competition it must be vaccinated within the previous six months+21 days. (The 21-day margin is set to facilitate the state of the horse's condition with respect to the competitions).
