Two weeks before the start of the CSIO Barcelona, which organizes for the 10th consecutive year the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM world final, the participating teams are confirmed.
Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, Uzbekistan and Spain as host countries, will try to snatch the title from Belgium, the current champion.
The 111st edition of the CSIO Barcelona will feature seven riders from the World Top Ten leading the line-up of the most outstanding equestrian competition on the international calendar: Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann (1), France's Julien Epaillard (2), the Swiss Steve Guerdat (3), his compatriot Martin Fuchs (5), the American Mclain Ward (6)), Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands (7) and the gal rider Simon Delestre (9). The Spanish team will be represented by Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Carolina Aresu, Alberto Márquez Galobardes, Mariano Martínez Bastida and Santiago Núñez Riva.
Another of the great incentives of the CSIO Barcelona will be the last Olympic place in Paris 2024 that will be put into play during the event. The top-ranked team in the final of the Nations Cup that has not yet achieved its pass previously, will be able to participate in the next Olympic Games. Six nations aspire to this: Brazil, Argentina, Uzbekistan, the United States, Italy and Mexico.
During the CSIO Barcelona a total of ten tests will be developed. Three corresponding to the Nations Cup, the first qualifying, the Longines Challenge Cup -or consolation test- and the expected final on Sunday, October 1, from 3 p.m. The traditional SM la Reina Cup — Trofeu Segura Vídues, one of the most emblematic events of the CSIO Barcelona sports programme, will also return, as well as the Copa Ciutat de Barcelona on Friday night, coinciding with one of the traditional gala dinners. The Club's grandstands will welcome about six hundred diners daily who will enjoy the sports show that will take place on the track, tasting the gastronomy of the RCPB.
In addition to the sports show, CSIO Barcelona will offer two musical concerts on the nights of Friday 29 and Saturday, 30 September, once the competition ends.
And in keeping with the festive atmosphere that CSIO Barcelona awakens in the city, the Club will donate 20,000 m² of its track to the PoloPark. This green space, the largest in Barcelona, dedicated to family leisure, will offer all kinds of activities for four days: a complete Foodie Fest, a large market, the Brand Village and the Kids Park for the little ones with its traditional Pony Park by Calvet. In this edition the sports show will also alternate with small-format shows starring the natural tamer, Inti Schenkel, the national volteig team, current Champion of Spain and, once again, the dressage exhibition starring the Barcelona Urban Guard. In addition, afternoons in the PoloPark will be enlivened with musical concerts of emerging groups.
