RE-01 Medieval roads

The equestrian tour is designed to be done by saddle horse, with departure and arrival in the same village of Prats de Lluçanès. It passes along ancient transhumance paths following ridges with fantastic views of the Pyrenees and the Merlès valley, and you reach the Monastery of Lluçà, located at the foot of the medieval castle; crosses fresh streams and passes near the medieval bridge of Sant Martí d'Albars, surrounded by a mosaic of forests, fields, farmhouses, and by the important point crossroads of livestock roads in Santa Cruz de Jutglar.

The route starts from the reception point of Prats de Lluçanès in a westerly direction through different livestock paths (transverse and western). We will pass nearChurch of San SebastiánWe will continue close to the galceran chairand to the Right Stone, an old livestock landmark. From here we will follow the ridge that will allow us to enjoy magnificent views of Lluçàand the Merlès Valley.
We will pass under the Puig Martorell and go down south, bordering the bac del Castle of Lluçàwhich preserves the small Romanesque church of Sant Vicenç. We will get to Monastery of Lluçà, a mandatory stop to discover a very interesting Romanesque heritage complex, where we find a stop area, a rest area (playground), and the restaurant La Primitiva. We will continue along historic paths to the Gols de Fumanya, a narrow and winding passage of the Lluçanès stream related to legends of magic and witchcraft. From here we will continue towards the centre of Beulaigua, and continue along medieval roads to the centre of Sant Martí d'Albars, documented in the 10th century, where we find a stopping area. We will go down to the service area of Sant Martí d'Albars, which has a stop area, restaurant and supermarket and we will continue until Santa Cruz de Jutglar, a crossroads of livestock roads and where the Council of Jurors of the Lluçanès subdivision met. In Santa Creu there are 2 stopping areas, one near the restaurant La Mola, and the other in front of the Consorci del Lluçanès, where there is also a rest area (playground) and tourist information point of Lluçanès Tourism.
The route continues to follow the central cattle trailpassing through the traginers crossing the Lluçanès stream; halfway we will deviate following paths surrounded by fields, crossing torrents and climbing mountains until Prats de Lluçanès.
